Social Construction of Islam by the Shi’a Community in Pekalongan City, Central Java

This study intends to identify the establishment of Islamic social construction in Shi’a community Pekalongan City. Qualitative research applied this gathered from case studies using a phenomenological approach. Data came in-depth observation, interviews, and documentation. The theory formulated by Peter L. Berger Thomas Luckmann became basic analysis. results showed that Islam City was formed through externalization, objectivization, internalization. process externalization dissemination knowledge teachings, as well about specialty Ahl al-Bayt religious authority Muslims. Objectivization happened according teaching habituation moderately, responding plurality under­standings attitudes Muslim religion. internali­zation went with awareness not apply teachings taqiyyah. In addition, availability live harmony thrives on maintaining integration state life Indonesia. theoretical implications show theological inclusivism can form moderate open understandings life.
